Liam Neeson is one of the greatest actors in Hollywood. He is best known for his roles from Schindler’s List, Star Wars, Love Actually and Clash of the Titans. Liam Neeson was born June 7, 1952, in Northern Ireland. At the age of eleven, Liam Neeson stepped on stage for the first time. His English teacher gave him the lead role in a school play, which he accepted because the girl he was attracted to was starring too. From then on, Liam Neeson kept on acting. Liam Neeson’s first acting break came in 1980, when the director John Boorman saw him on stage. He starred in five films in the 1980s, alongside Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins.
Director Steven Spielberg was very impressed with Liam Neeson’s role in Nell and consequently offered him the coveted role of Oskar Schindler in the Holocaust movie, Schindler’s List. Liam Neeson was critically acclaimed and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. In my opinion, this role was one of the best of his career. Schindler’s List established Liam Neeson as a widely sought-after leading actor. The role of Oskar Schindler was perfectly calibrated by Liam Neeson. He transforms the character from a careless man, to a man who dedicates himself to saving more than 1000 lives. The selfishness imprinted on his face is so complete and unyielding that the audience immediately understands the extent to which Schindler is without scruples.
The facial expression of Liam Neeson hardly ever changes until he notices the liquidation of the ghetto. The way Liam Neeson calmly navigates Schindler through the encounters with Amon Goeth, masterfully interpreted by Ralph Fiennes, resembles a benefactor hiding under the guise of a businessman. Liam Neeson understood that Oskar Schindler was not a superhuman, he was just a man who had the vision to see the right thing in times of suffocating darkness, and to do the right thing when the opportunity arises. One thing is for sure, Liam Neeson is a wonderful and talented actor that conveys originality and a lot of feeling to his every role.
